Provider update: March 3, 2021

To:  All State Plan Personal Care (SPPC) Providers

Subject:  Eligible Provider Exceptions

Date:  March 3, 2021

This notification is to advise that Eligible Provider Exceptions allowing legal guardians to serve as personal care attendants for SPPC clients are no longer allowed per a directive from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  Emergency policy revisions to address this process change are currently in progress.

This change is effective immediately.  New and recently submitted (unprocessed) requests for Eligible Provider Exceptions can no longer be accepted.

Please submit questions regarding this notification via PQ using the Program type of “SPPC” and the Inquiry type of “Eligible Provider Exception Question.”
