Oklahoma Human Services Uncovers $150K SNAP Fraud in Multi-County Operation
OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug.25, 2026) - Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS) has completed a multi-county warrant roundup following an extensive investigation into alleged Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) fraud.
Led by the OKDHS Office of Inspector General (OIG), the months-long operation targeted a dozen individuals accused of exploiting food assistance intended for low-income families. On Thursday, Aug. 13, law enforcement swept across five counties to execute arrests. Two additional individuals identified early in the investigation have already been sentenced and ordered to pay thousands of dollars in restitution. Combined, the suspects stand accused of defrauding state safety-net programs of more than $150,000.
“SNAP is an essential resource for Oklahomans working hard to put food on the table for their families, and we have a responsibility to protect it,” said Jeffrey Cartmell, Oklahoma Human Services Director. “The OKDHS OIG will pursue any and all allegations of fraud relentlessly. Anyone who attempts to commit fraud against these critical programs will be held fully accountable.”
OKDHS OIG investigators continuously monitor agency records, financial disclosures, and public tips, collaborating closely with local and federal law enforcement partners to swiftly bring criminal or administrative action against deliberate fraud.
“Protecting the integrity of our programs is a core responsibility of our agency," said Michael Adams, Oklahoma Human Services Inspector General. “Fraud is a crime, and we have no tolerance for it. Our investigators are well trained to identify wrongdoing and will bring those responsible to justice."
