Developmental Disabilities Services to host Regional Family Meetings in April, May to continue ‘No-Wait State’ progress

Thursday, April 16, 2026

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 16, 2026) – More Oklahoma families are preparing to transition onto Oklahoma Human Services Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) this month as the agency begins working with cohort 12 families.
The cohort includes 729 people who applied for DDS services between January 2025 and June 2025. With the processing of Cohort 12, DDS's historic progress to become a no-wait state is still in motion and the waitlist that once stood at 13 years in 2022 has been reduced to just one year.

So far, more than 3,000 waitlist families have been approved to receive services or are already receiving services.

To support families positioned to transition onto services, DDS will host in-person Regional Family Meetings in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Oklahoma City's Regional Family Meeting will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on April 27 and Tulsa’s Regional Family Meeting will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on April 29. A virtual Regional Family Meeting will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 13 for families who cannot attend meetings in person.

The DDS PossABLE Regional Family Meetings provide resources and information to families as they prepare to begin the DDS onboarding process. DDS has held 32 of these meetings across the state so far.

“These meetings have been instrumental in helping families start off on the right foot with the process and our goal is for families to leave with all their questions answered,” said DDS Division Director Beth Scrutchins. “I highly encourage eligible families to attend these uplifting and informative sessions as we continue toward our ultimate goal of making Oklahoma a no-wait state for services.”

The upcoming April and May meetings are for families who applied for DDS services between January 2025 and June 2025.
Eligible families will receive invitations to regional meetings based upon their application date.

While registration is required, the meeting is free. Additionally, the cost of attendance can be offset with a $100 stipend provided to families who need to cover related travel or caregiver expenses. Families who have attended previous meetings can register to attend but will not receive the stipend.
To register for one of the Regional Family Meetings, find location details, or learn about the stipend, call 844-944-9301 or visit our webpage

If you applied for DDS services after June 2025, you will be notified of meetings in the future when your group comes up for services. If you are uncertain of your application date or need to update your contact information, contact DDSIntake@LibertyHealth.com or call 405-500-1866.
