Oklahoma Human Services helps Oklahomans lead healthier and more independent lives

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 28, 2025) – Oklahoma Human Services plays a vital role in fostering the health and well-being of Oklahomans by providing a range of programs and services aimed at improving access to health care, nutrition, and supportive resources. From offering assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps), to helping eligible Oklahomans pay healthcare premiums through the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA), Oklahoma Human Services stands ready to be a resource for its neighbors.

Here are five ways Oklahoma Human Services can support your journey to better health:

  • Do you have limited resources or income?  Do you have to choose between your monthly prescriptions and other expenses?  Under the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA), Oklahoma Human Services offers programs to help low-income seniors and people with disabilities afford their medical expenses. MIPPA can help those who qualify pay for their Medicare Part A and B premiums and prescription drugs through a Medicare Savings Program. See if you qualify on our MIPPA webpage
  • Oklahoma Human Service’s Aged, Blind, and Disabled services program provides Medicaid services to aged, blind, and disabled Oklahomans who meet eligibility criteria. In some instances, these individuals may be eligible for cash assistance payments as well. To learn more, visit our Aged, Blind, and Disabled services webpage.
  • Children with special health care needs may qualify for respite vouchers, supplemental formula, adaptive equipment, and interaction/integration services through the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) Program at Oklahoma Human Services. Caregivers can learn more by visiting our CYSHCN webpage.
  • Long Term Care through Medicaid is a needs-based healthcare program offered by Oklahoma Human Services. The program covers the cost of long-term care for seniors and disabled individuals who meet the state’s eligibility requirements. To learn more, visit our Long Term Care through Medicaid webpage.
  • At the start of the new year, many Oklahomans resolved to improve their overall health. To help you continue your journey to better health, check out The ONIE Project. The project is run by a group dedicated to improving the health, nutrition, and wellbeing of Oklahomans by partnering with community organizations and agencies like Oklahoma Human Services.
