DHS Practice & Policy Lecture Series to feature former Norman Mayor Cindy Rosenthal, discussion of women in politics

OKLAHOMA CITY – The impact on policy by women political leaders is the subject of this month's Practice & Policy Lecture Series presented by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS). Women in Politics: What it Means for Policy and Leadership will be presented by OU Professor Emeritus Cindy Rosenthal on Jan. 8, 2019 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive in Oklahoma City.

Rosenthal served on the Norman city council for 12 years before voters elected her to three terms as mayor. She is the former director of the Carl Albert Congressional Research and Studies Center at the University of Oklahoma and currently a professor emeritus of women's and gender studies and political science.  

The Practice & Policy Lecture Series has been developed to provide thought-provoking presentations on Oklahoma's emerging policy issues, trends and best practices. The series is sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Office of Performance Outcomes and Accountability and the University of Oklahoma Center for Public Management. The goal of the series is to provide the best educational opportunities available in a forum that offers participants an opportunity to question, share and learn. All lectures are free and open to the public. DHS staff can receive training credit for this event and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for social workers.
