News Release
The Finding Forever Families 5K and Fun Run is scheduled Saturday, May 20 at Heritage Church, 2100 N. Bryan Rd. in Shawnee. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the run beginning at 9 a.m. The goal of this run is to bring awareness to the need for foster and adoptive homes for Oklahoma’s children in need of families. Foster parents don’t just foster children, they foster families too -- helping parents and children become healthy and whole again.
The 5K will be run on a new USATF certified course with a registration fee of $25, including a t-shirt. The fun run is approximately one mile with a $10 registration fee that also includes a t-shirt. On-site registrations will increase by $10, and shirts are not guaranteed with race day registration. Children 12 and under are free for the fun run and may purchase a t-shirt on race day for $10. Children attendees will also enjoy bouncy houses while their parents peruse the information tables and vendor booths. All funds raised will be used to support future events and to help with the needs of local foster children and families.
