Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness Foundation hosts Early Childhood Research Symposium
News Release
Smart Start Oklahoma and Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness Foundation
The first-ever Oklahoma Early Childhood Research Symposium will be held February 9, 2017, at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Nigh University Center in Edmond from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with a poster session and reception immediately following. Registration begins at 8:30 am. The symposium brings together both Oklahoma and national researchers to highlight the benefits to young children who have experienced trauma through strengthening partnerships between early care and education programs and the child welfare system.
The symposium will feature keynote speaker Dr. Deborah Phillips with the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. Phillips’ research focuses on the impact of early childhood programs for both typically developing children and those with special needs. Her most recent study on CAP Tulsa’s Head Start Program, published in the Journal of Developmental Psychology, was featured in an NPR interview in December 2016.
