The Honorable Judge Marion Fry, Leflore County Associate District Judge, dedicated his courtroom all day on December 23, 2015 for finalizing adoptions for children in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS). By the end of the day, 13 children obtained forever families, just in time for Christmas. The local DHS staff in LeFlore County worked diligently to ensure all of the necessary procedures were completed in time for this to take place.

“I am deeply moved by the efforts of Judge Fry and the Leflore County permanency planning, foster care, and adoption staff to coordinate hearings to finalize adoptions for seven families. This has made it possible for 13 children to celebrate Christmas with their forever families,” said Zane Gray, DHS Deputy Director for Region 4.

“We would like to thank Judge Fry for dedicating a day for this special occasion and the staff for the exceptional teamwork it took to make this day possible,” said Gray.

“This has been a heartwarming experience and we are ecstatic to see these children’s lives evolving in a positive way,” said Kay Hammon, DHS District Director.

A forever family is the greatest gift a child could receive. During state fiscal year 2015, DHS found a permanent home through adoption for 2,015 children statewide. There are approximately 350 children statewide who are currently legally free and in need of an adoptive family.
