OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) Office of Community and Faith Engagement (OCFE) will host the "EngageOK" Conference on May 20 at the National Center for Employee Development, 2801 East State Highway 9, in Norman. The conference theme is "Enlighten, Empower, EngageOK."

The Office of Community and Faith Engagement was created in 2013 to develop partnerships between DHS, private sector entities, and volunteer and faith-based organizations. The EngageOK Conference will feature speakers who will discuss a variety of strategies relating to community collaborations and partnerships, volunteerism, food insecurity, faith engagement, and social issues such as poverty, substance abuse, domestic violence, anti-human trafficking efforts, refugee and immigrant community outreach, and adult exploitation prevention.

"The EngageOK Conference brings community partners, stakeholders, volunteer leaders, domestic violence experts, and faith organizations together to raise awareness about important issues within our state and nation," said Karen Jacobs, OCFE Administrator. "The conference is a great learning experience and provides networking opportunities to create momentous partnerships and collaborations."

In addition to the conference, 50 exhibitor booths will be provided for organizations and businesses to provide information and resource materials.

Speakers at the conference include DHS Director Ed Lake, Birth Parent Association president and CEO Pam Toohey, and motivational speaker Greg Hawks.
