OKLAHOMA CITY - The registration deadline is coming up soon for the 40th Annual Oklahoma Conference on Aging to be held May 5-7 at the Embassy Suites Norman Hotel and Conference Center.

This year’s conference theme of “Celebrate, Discover, Embrace” reflects many meanings including celebrating achievements, learning and discovering new ideas, and embracing the future.

Senior Day is May 5 and is free to Oklahomans 60 years and older. Former broadcaster, author and Miss America 1967 Jane Jayroe will act as emcee.  She will lead a keynote panel of inspiring older Oklahomans.  Kathy Greenlee, Assistant Secretary for Aging, will be the keynote speaker during lunch.

The professional days are May 6 and 7 and provide professional development for professionals, students and advocates in the field of aging. Bestselling author and Washington, DC-based career, retirement and personal finance expert Kerry Hannon will be the keynote speaker on May 6. Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) Director Ed Lake, Oklahoma State Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Terry Cline, and Oklahoma State Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Director Terri White will be the keynote speakers on May 7.

The conference also features 60 breakout sessions, a Wellness Expo, film festival, more than 60 exhibitors and other activities.

“This is the state’s largest conference on aging and is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Oklahoma seniors, learn about critical issues and showcase programs and services,” said Lance Robertson, DHS Aging Services director.
