Cleveland County DHS collaborates with local organizations to create visitation room
Library: News Release
Oklahoma City---The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) Cleveland county office combined efforts with local organizations to create a new visitation room.
Oklahoma Public Employees Association (OPEA), Citizens Advisory Board (CAB), members of the University of Oklahoma Gamma Phi Beta sorority and Cleveland county DHS employees each contributed to creating the visitation room.
The University of Oklahoma sorority Gamma Phi Beta contributed to the project by painting the room and creating designs on the walls. CAB donated the couch and OPEA provided the paint and supplies.
The DHS employees worked hard to put the visitation room together in a short amount of time. Cleveland county district director of region 2, Pamela Sadler said, “Janet Winters, a permanency planning supervisor, was instrumental in finding the volunteers to contribute and locating the funding sources.”
The visitation room is filled with toys and games for the children to play with. It also has a chalkboard painted wall for the children to draw on. The bright colors and designs provide a cheerful and happy environment for visitations that are supervised by the case worker.
The visitation room is designed for families to have a comfortable space to spend quality time with their children who are in DHS custody.
