OKLAHOMA CITY – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Community Living (ACL) has awarded the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) Aging Services a 12-month planning grant in the amount of $225,000.

The grant is the first step to creating a “No Wrong Door” system in Oklahoma. A “No Wrong Door” system helps individuals and their caregivers find the right services, at the right time, in the right setting regardless of which agency the individual approaches.

“This grant will help our agencies work together to provide a more seamless delivery of services to individuals with disabilities,” said Governor Mary Fallin.

The project will improve the capacity to serve persons of all ages, abilities, and income levels; streamline eligibility determinations for individuals eligible for public long-term care services and supports; and increase access to lower-cost, community-based alternatives to help individuals reside in their community and preserve financial resources.

Under the grant, the DHS Aging Services’ Aging and Disability Resource Consortium (ADRC) will establish a transformation cabinet to develop a three-year plan for creating a fully-operational “No Wrong Door” system. The cabinet will be made up of leaders from DHS Aging Services, DHS Developmental Disabilities Services, the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, and the Office of the Governor.
