DHS hires new Chief of Staff

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Lee Anne Bruce Boone has accepted the position of Chief of Staff with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS).  Bruce Boone began working for DHS on Dec. 31, 2013.

Previously, Bruce Boone held several positions with the Tennessee Department of Human Services.  She served as Assistant Commissioner from 2004 through 2011, and began her work with the Department as Deputy General Counsel in 2000.  Most recently, she served as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the Williamson County (Tennessee)  Board of Education.

“I am very excited about this move to Oklahoma, and helping further our mission of serving the state’s most vulnerable citizens,” Bruce Boone said.  “Already within the short time period I have served as part of our DHS team, the professionalism and competency of our staff has really impressed me.

“The welcome I have experienced has already made me feel very much at home in Oklahoma,” Bruce Boone added.  “I have been fortunate to have a work history of assisting the Tennessee DHS and its many worthy programs, and look forward to continuing that effort here in Oklahoma to benefits citizens at every level.”

 “I am very excited that Lee Anne Bruce Boone, a former colleague at the Tennessee DHS, has joined our team,” said DHS Director Ed Lake.  “Lee Anne’s professional training, experience and personal skills are a perfect match for the role she is taking on, and she will fit right in with our senior management team, which is now complete.  We look forward to continuing our efforts to lead the dedicated employees of DHS and re-building the organization providing critical services to Oklahomans in need.”

Bruce Boone recently received a Master’s Degree in Civic Leadership from Lipscomb University in Nashville.  She also holds a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Science from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee.
