OKLAHOMA CITY – A free conference for grandparents raising grandchildren will be held Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Crossings Community Center, 2208 W. Hefner Road in Oklahoma City.
Experts will provide information about legal issues, connecting with a child’s school, financial resources, social media safety and caregiver self-care. The conference also features exhibitors with information to help grandparents and other relatives raising children.
Oklahoma ranks among the top ten states in the number of grandparents or other relatives raising children. More than 81,000 grandparents are living with grandchildren in Oklahoma, according the U.S. Census bureau. And nearly 44,000 grandparents hold full responsibility for those children.
