OKLAHOMA CITY – Child support customers will soon have another convenient new way to pay thanks to an agreement between MoneyGram and Child Support Services (CSS).
Beginning Nov. 6, parents needing to make an Oklahoma child support payment can walk into any MoneyGram location and, for a $1.99 fee, submit a cash payment.
The agreement between MoneyGram and Child Support Services is at no cost to taxpayers.
“Every time we roll out a new way to pay child support obligations, we are pleasantly surprised by the number of parents who begin making regular, reliable payments using the new method,” said Jeff Wagner, a spokesperson for CSS.
“The message to us has been clear: we need to continue improving choice and convenience for the more than 200,000 families we serve, making child support payment as easy as possible for our customers.”
CSS began accepting payments through Oklahoma BancFirst locations Aug. 1 and has received 177 payments totaling $81,999.97 in the three months since that program went live. Pay-by-Phone went live Oct. 1, receiving 145 payments totaling $33,147.06 in its first month of operation. Twenty-five percent of child support payments made by one of these new payment methods were either the first payment ever made by the parent or the first payment made in at least six months. As with MoneyGram, both of these programs are supported by user fees, operating at no cost to taxpayers.

Child Support Services is a program of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. To promote healthy families, CSS establishes, monitors and enforces reliable support while encouraging self-sufficiency and strengthening relationships. The program is responsible for more than 205,000 active child support cases, collecting more than $350 million in the last year on behalf of children and families.
