OKDHS Partners with OK Lawyers for Children to Find Safe Homes for Foster Children
Library: News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) is once again partnering with Oklahoma Lawyers for Children (OLFC) in their efforts to recruit volunteers to assist with home studies for people becoming foster parents.
“Partners like Oklahoma Lawyers for Children are a valuable resource as we work to provide the most stable environment for children in our care,” said OKDHS Director Ed Lake. “We are most appreciative of their work recruiting and training volunteers, and the children in state custody are ultimately the ones who will receive the greatest benefits from this partnership.”
OKDHS employees will conduct the training through the Home Study Volunteer Program. It will be held Tuesday, May 14 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Christian Family Life Center of All Souls Episcopal Church, located at 6404 N. Pennsylvania in Oklahoma City. New volunteers should arrive at 4:15 p.m. to fill out a background check form.
Oklahoma Lawyers for Children (OLFC) represents children in OKDHS custody in Oklahoma County. OLFC is the only non-profit organization providing pro bono legal services, home studies, guardianships, mentorship and more to the area’s abused, neglected and deprived children.
