OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Child Care Services (OCCS) division of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) will host a public discussion of the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) block grant on May 7, 2013 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

Parents, licensed child care providers, child care facility teachers, early care and education professionals, and faith based and community partners are encouraged to attend and share opinions, suggestions, and concerns about child care services in Oklahoma.

Every two years, OCCS develops a state plan that details how the federal CCDF block grant will be used. The plan details the services offered in Oklahoma, methods of access to the system by low income parents, plans for improving the quality of child care, and a description of health and safety requirements for child care facilities in the state.

Feedback from the public discussion will be incorporated into the plan for FY2014-2015. A preprint draft of Child Care and Development Fund Plan for Oklahoma FFY 2014-2015 (.pdf, 106 pp, 975 KB) is posted on the OKDHS website. A completed draft version will be available on the website in mid-April.

Child care providers and parents are encouraged to complete one of the 2013 OCCS Child Care Surveys that are posted on the OCCS webpage. One survey is for child care providers and partner organizations, and the second survey is for parents or guardians of  children under age 13. The deadline to complete the surveys is April 12, 2013.
