OKLAHOMA CITY -- A community partner of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) will provide free hams to 1,400 low income households during this Easter season.
The Lawyers Against Hunger ham giveaway will be held on March 27, 2013 at the offices of McIntyre Law located at 8601 South Western Avenue in Oklahoma City. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks will be served to everyone who attends. One ham per family will be given away until all the hams are gone.
Noble McIntyre, Senior Attorney for McIntyre Law, says the firm will distribute 1,400 hams to needy families. "I expect they will go quickly," says McIntyre. "The giveaway will start at Noon and continue until all the hams have been given away."
Karen Jacobs, Coordinator of the OKDHS Office of Volunteerism/Faith Based and Community Initiatives, says Lawyers Against Hunger also helped thousands of OKDHS recipients last year with food and air conditioner giveaway programs.
"This group of attorneys provided 5,000 Thanksgiving turkeys to low-income Oklahomans last November and donated window air conditioners last summer to hundreds of the most vulnerable citizens across the state," says Jacobs. "The Lawyers Against Hunger are truly amazing. This donation of hams during the Easter season is just another example of how OKDHS and amazing community partners collaborate to help those in need."
