OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --  The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) will provide an interactive presentation, giving public and private organizations ways to learn about working with foundations. “Private Foundations and their Role in Public Policy Issues” is part of the OKDHS Practice and Policy Lecture Series.  It will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on July 25 in the Sequoyah Building’s Concourse Conference Room, 2400 N. Lincoln Boulevard in Oklahoma City.

Participants include Gayle Farley, manager of the Charitable Organization Endowment Fund program for the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Farley has more than 25 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector, including fund and program development, management, leadership positions and volunteering.

Diana Hartley began her career as a newspaper reporter, moving later into school and community public relations.  She worked for several years as Marketing and Communications Director for the Moore-Norman Technology Center. In 2006 she began working with Sarkeys Foundation, helping nonprofits become better storytellers and relationship builders.

Pat Potts co-founded the Community Resource Development Foundation and serves as President of its successor, the Potts Family Foundation. She also founded the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits and served as president and CEO for more than 20 years. Potts has also served as President of the Oklahoma City School Board, Oklahoma City Beautiful, the Zoo Trust, the Society of Fund Raising Executives, and she currently serves on the boards of the Oklahoma Women’s Coalition, Sunbeam Foundation, the Metro Tech Foundation and the Educare Center.

The Practice and Policy Lecture Series has been developed to provide thought-provoking presentations on Oklahoma's emerging policy issues, trends and best practices. The series is sponsored by the OKDHS Office of Planning, Research and Statistics and the University of Oklahoma Center for Public Management with the goal of providing the best educational opportunities available in a forum that offers participants an opportunity to question, share and learn from each other.

All lectures are free and open to the public. For more information contact the Office of Planning, Research and Statistics at (405) 521-3552 or visit the Practice and Policy Lecture Series website
