OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma was given the 2013 Business Partner of the Year award at the 38th Annual Oklahoma Conference on Aging May 23 in Norman. The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) Aging Services Division presents annual Achievement in Aging awards to recognize outstanding service to older Oklahomans.
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma was recognized for its longtime support of the Oklahoma Aging Advocacy Leadership Academy. OAALA is an award-winning program which has produced more than 300 graduates who work in a variety of programs to positively impact the lives of older Oklahomans. To date, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma has provided more than $100,000 of funding for the OAALA program.
OKDHS Aging Services Division Director Lance Robertson presented the award to Mickey Peercy, Executive Director of Health for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. “We are grateful for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s continued support of OAALA, which is critical to the continued success of this important program. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor,” Robertson said.
