OKLAHOMA CITY -- JoAnne Goin has been named Director of the Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD) for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS).

Goin has been with the agency for 38 years, beginning as a social worker in 1974 and working in DDSD since 1988. She has served as Manager of Area II since 1993.

“I look forward to leading the division and continuing to build on Jim Nicholson’s wonderful legacy of building partnerships with families, advocates, service providers and community leaders,” says Goin. “It is so rewarding to see the people we serve lead rich, successful lives, have friendships and jobs, and participate in their communities.”

“I think JoAnne will be a wonderful director,” says Jim Nicholson, outgoing Director of DDSD. “She has a rich history and impeccable credentials in the field of developmental disabilities. She has long tenure at the highest level of field management in DDSD. At the same time, JoAnne is a very compassionate leader who seeks the very best quality of life for our service recipients. I am confident JoAnne will be a magnificent director. The Director could not have chosen anyone better.”

Goin earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver. She is also a licensed clinical and administrative social worker.
