Two OKDHS child welfare workers receive CASA Award for Excellence

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Two Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) child welfare workers are the recipients of the 2012 Buddy Faye Foster Courtroom Excellence Award.

Jazzmon Kennerson and Annabelle Scranton both work in county office 55A in Oklahoma City. Kennerson has been with OKDHS since October 2009 and Scranton since July 2010.

The award is presented by the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). CASA trains citizen volunteers to advocate for abused or neglected children in the Oklahoma juvenile court system and help those children access services available through OKDHS. The award is named for Buddy Faye Foster, a longtime Oklahoma City CASA volunteer.

As child welfare workers, Kennerson and Scranton make numerous court appearances each year. Recipients of the award are recognized for their leadership, compassion, reason and courage in the courtroom.

“Jazz and Annabelle always go above and beyond what is required of them in their day-to-day work responsibilities,” says Misty McGaugh, OKDHS Child Welfare Supervisor. “They are both dedicated, hardworking, motivated, compassionate and positive. They are an asset to the court system and the community and I am extremely fortunate and proud to be their supervisor and excited to be part of their growth and development as they pursue their careers with OKDHS.”
