OKLAHOMA CITY -- Registration is underway for the 38th Annual Oklahoma Conference on Aging “The Road to Aging Well: Enjoy Your Trip.” The state’s largest conference on aging will be May 21-23 at the Embassy Suites Norman Hotel and Conference Center.
Senior Day is May 21 and is free to Oklahomans 60 years and older. Keith Ochwat, producer of “Age of Champions” – an award-winning documentary about senior Olympians - will keynote the opening session followed by a screening of the film. Attendees will also enjoy access to 24 breakout sessions, a Wellness Expo, film festival, exhibit hall, and a classic auto show provided by the Oklahoma Hot Rod Association. The day also includes an awards luncheon for senior poetry contest and spelling bee winners.

The conference’s professional days are May 22-23 and provide professional development for professionals, students and advocates in the field of aging. Professional days include nationally-known keynote speakers, more than 35 breakout sessions, a Mobile Services Display, film festival, exhibit hall and awards luncheon.
Katherine Freund, founder and president of ITNAmerica, will deliver the keynote address on May 22. ITNAmerica provides an innovative solution to transportation difficulties faced by people who are older and people with disabilities.
Martha Roherty, executive director of the National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities will speak on May 23. NASUAD works to educate Congress, federal agencies and the general public on policy issues of special concern to state officials administering programs for long-term care services.
“The conference is a wonderful opportunity to learn about critical issues, celebrate Oklahoma seniors and showcase resources,” said Lance Robertson, OKDHS Aging Services director.
