OKLAHOMA CITY -- Ken Davis, Case Manager for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD), has been named the November 2012 Spirit of Service Award recipient.
Housed at the OKDHS offices in Shepherd Mall in Oklahoma City, Davis serves clients who have developmental disabilities with related health and criminal histories. He willingly works extra time and expends extra effort to ensure each of his customers receives the best possible service.
Davis is known for his unique talent for communicating with his customers and for building trust with them, even those whose behaviors are considered abusive, non-compliant or threatening. His efforts have reaped benefits: colleagues say Davis has had "amazing" results in helping his customers recognize their own self-worth and learning to exercise restraint in their behavior.
Davis' coworkers say he is the epitome of what a DDSD case manager should be and he exemplifies the meaning of the Spirit of Service Award.
