Pryor to Host Bridges Out of Poverty Training

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- A one-day workshop designed to educate the public about generational poverty is coming to Pryor.  “Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities,” will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7 at St Martin’s Episcopal church, 612 SE First Street, Pryor, with check-in at 8:30 a.m.

“The Bridges out of Poverty training increases understanding of hidden barriers to success, and provides possible solutions for improved outcomes,” said Deborah Price, Manager of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Bridges Campaign. “We plan to continue this training across the state, and make concerted efforts to alleviate poverty in each community.”

This workshop is for businesses, education, law enforcement, health care and social service providers, churches, faith-based and community organizations, as well as individuals interested in increasing their understanding of the culture of poverty.  Following the training a Woodward community plan for addressing poverty will be discussed. 

Information about the “Getting Ahead in a Just-Getting-By World,” a National Circles Campaign will be included in the workshop.
