OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- A statewide conference for individuals and groups working with faith-based substance abuse and mental health prevention and service providers will be held Aug. 28 in Oklahoma City. “The Faith Engagement” is sponsored by the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and Crossings Community Center. 

Keynote speaker will be Dr. John Townsend, a radio host, psychologist, leadership expert and author of 26 best-selling books. Townsend’s publications include “Boundaries: Now What Do I Do?” and “Who’s Pushing Your Buttons: Handling the Difficult People in Your Life.” 

The conference is part of a statewide initiative to engage, educate, and encourage clinicians, counselors, and leaders in the faith community. It will be held at the Crossings Community Center, 2208 West Hefner Road in Oklahoma City, on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., with lunch included.
