OKDHS Fall Lecture Series Examines Trauma-Informed Child Welfare

OKLAHOMA CAPITOL-- The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) Fall Lecture Series is in full swing, with “Trauma Informed Child Welfare” the next topic of discussion. Dr. Lisa Conradi is a clinical psychologist and guest speaker. It will be held Thursday, September 13 from Noon to 1 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive in Oklahoma City.

Conradi will discuss how the essential elements of a trauma-informed child welfare system have been applied across the country. She will focus her lecture specifically on a “Breakthrough Series Collaborative” focused on using trauma-informed child welfare practices to improve foster care placement stability. Dr. Conradi will provide participants with concrete practice changes they can take home to their own jurisdictions. 

     The Chadwick Trauma-Informed Systems Project is focused on helping child welfare systems become more trauma-informed in their daily practice. Conradi is the Project Manager, and also a clinical psychologist at the Chadwick Center for Children and Families in San Diego.

The Practice and Policy Lecture Series has been developed to provide thought-provoking presentations on Oklahoma's emerging policy issues, trends and best practices. The series is sponsored by the OKDHS Office of Planning, Research and Statistics and the University of Oklahoma Center for Public Management with the goal of providing the best educational opportunities available in a forum that offers participants an opportunity to question, share and learn.
