OKDHS Aging Services Director Named NASUAD President

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Lance Robertson, Director of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) Aging Services Division, has begun a two-year term as President of the National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities (NASUAD) Executive Committee.

"I am honored to serve and contribute to the national policy discussion," said Robertson, who is passionate about working with older adults and people with disabilities. "This is a great opportunity to showcase Oklahoma."

NASUAD represents the nation's 56 state and territorial agencies on aging and disabilities. The organization seeks to improve and sustain home and community-based services and provides support to older adults, people with disabilities and their caregivers.

As director of the OKDHS Aging Services Division since August 2007, Robertson oversees 17 major aging services programs, including the Older Americans Act program and the state's Home and Community Based Services Medicaid Waiver ADvantage Program.

Robertson's undergraduate and graduate coursework are from Oklahoma State University. At OSU, he co-founded the Gerontology Institute and contractually served as Executive Director of Partnerships for Aging, the largest gerontology association in the United States.

He was the recipient of the 2004 Oklahoma Aging Professional of the Year Award, the 2004 Salute to Leaders in Aging National Award (Caregiver Category) and the 2003 National CareHeroes Professional Award.
