OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council was established by Executive Order of the state’s Governor in 1973, and was reauthorized by the Developmental Disabilities Act of 2000. The Council invests in services and programs that enable people with disabilities to realize independence, productivity, integration and inclusion in the communities of their choice.
Every five years, the Council is required by the United States Administration on Developmental Disabilities to create a five-year state plan focused on how it will use its resources to support systems change, capacity building and advocacy that results in people with developmental disabilities becoming more independent, economically self-sufficient, included in the community, and self-determined in their lives.
Members of the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council have developed draft goals, objectives and activities for State Plan years 2012-2016.
These goals, objectives, and activities are available for public comment from June 15 to July 22.
The public has five options for providing the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council membership with comments about the Plan’s DRAFT:
