OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Organizers are expecting 300 to 400 attendees at the 13th Annual Oklahoma Latino Heritage Celebration: Honoring Our Diverse Roots. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oct. 7 at the Oklahoma City Public Historical Farmers Market Auditorium, 311 S. Klein, Oklahoma City.
The Latino heritage celebration is held in honor of National Latino Heritage Month, and will provide an educational opportunity to appreciate and celebrate the wealth of cultural contributions made by the state's Latino population. There will be entertainment and OKDHS informational booths. Admission is free and open to the public, and a free authentic Latin lunch will be provided by Cocina De Mino Mexican Restaurant.
The Latino Heritage Celebration is the largest state-sponsored event recognizing the contributions of Hispanic Americans to the state and is sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Oklahoma City Public Schools and the Latino Community Development Agency.
