OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- The Oklahoma Commission for Human Services today recognized the Klaser family and other clients for overcoming obstacles and finding success through OKDHS programs. The Klasers were recognized during the presentation of the 2010 OKDHS annual report, during the Commission's monthly meeting in Oklahoma City.
The Klasers have been a success story through receiving in-home support services for their son Seth and their family through OKDHS Developmental Disabilities Services Division. Because Seth requires constant supervision, the program offers the family help with budgeting services and locating resources.
The Developmental Disabilities Services Division provides services to individuals age three and older who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Services are individualized to meet each person’s needs. Last year, 14,352 individuals with developmental disabilities received either state funded or Medicaid financed services and 5,157 individuals received home and community-based services.
The annual report was presented to the commission by Connie Schlittler, OKDHS Office of Planning, Research and Statistics director and Information Services Divisions chief information officer.
Through the 2010 Annual Report, see how Oklahoma’s families were served by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Even as the definition of family may slightly shift, the OKDHS mission does not change: to help Oklahoma’s families lead safer, healthier and more productive lives. This video documentary introduces a few of those families and tells how OKDHS is serving greater numbers of families than ever before.
