OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- The Oklahoma Commission for Human Services today recognized FIT Camp participants and other clients for overcoming obstacles and finding success through Oklahoma Department of Human Services programs. FIT Camp was recognized during the presentation of the 2010 OKDHS annual report, during the Commission's monthly meeting in Oklahoma City.
FIT camp was created by the OKDHS Field Operations Division as a resource for developmentally disabled children and their families. It is a unique partnership between OKDHS employees, community volunteers and donors. Located in Craig County, the camp helps children, like nine-year-old Christopher Hand who has Asperger Syndrome, be themselves through learning to establish and maintain friendships and learning social skills.

The annual report was presented to the commission by Connie Schlittler, OKDHS Office of Planning, Research and Statistics director and Information Services Divisions chief information officer.

Through the 2010 Annual Report, see how Oklahoma’s families were served by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Even as the definition of family may slightly shift, the OKDHS mission does not change: to help Oklahoma’s families lead safer, healthier and more productive lives. This video documentary introduces a few of those families and tells how OKDHS is serving greater numbers of families than ever before.
