OKLAHOMA CITY -- Members of the Oklahoma Commission for Human Services viewed the 2010 Oklahoma Department of Human Services annual report during the Commission's regular monthly meeting on Oct. 26.
Chief Information Officer Connie Schlittler introduced the annual report and strategic plan before showing members of the Commission the annual report video documentary.
Several of the OKDHS clients whose stories are told in both the video and in the print version of the report were on hand to tell Commissioners and Director Howard Hendrick the positive impact agency services made in their lives.
"OKDHS has been a blessing in my girls' life," said Maxcine Thomas, who is raising her granddaughters with the assistance of several OKDHS services. "I want to thank everybody for the work they do and what they do for us. It makes a big difference.”
“I want to thank you all for your hard work, it really means a lot,” Robin Klaser tearfully told the Commission. “Patrick Birney has been instrumental in helping.” Klaser's son Seth receives services through the Developmental Disabilities Services Division and Birney is Seth's case worker.
“Thank you, we appreciate the time you spent (on the report)," said OKDHS employee Johnnie Morse. Morse and Suzanne Marler, FIT Camp director and certified occupational therapy assistant, have founded a camp for children with developmental disabilities. "We love the camp and we are doing great things in Vinita.” The annual camp is entirely supported by the community and through donations.
