OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- An official with the Oklahoma Health Care Authority will kick off the 2011 Practice and Policy Lecture Series by opening a dialogue on the economics of health care reform.
Michael Fogarty, chief executive officer, OHCA, will speak at noon, Jan. 20 in the Chesapeake Room of the Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Dr., Oklahoma City. The Practice and Policy Lecture Series is sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and the University of Oklahoma’s Center for Public Management.
OHCA administers SoonerCare programs, serving nearly 800,000 Oklahomans with a budget of more than $4.5 billion. Fogarty and OHCA will be directly involved as Oklahoma prepares to implement national health reform and bring public and private health insurance coverage to Oklahomans who lack access to affordable coverage.
Fogarty joined OHCA in 1995 as the state Medicaid director and chief operating officer. He holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Oklahoma and a law degree from Oklahoma City University.
All lectures are free and open to the public. This yearlong series provides thought-provoking presentations by experts in their fields on Oklahoma’s emerging policy issues, trends and best practices. Lunch is available for purchase at the Oklahoma History Center.
