OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- With 90 percent of Oklahoma City Public School students living at or near the poverty base, according to the Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools, the Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives has partnered with Cornerstone Assistance Network to help people of compassion make a difference in those children’s lives.
“The inaugural Season of Service has succeeded in getting issues about children in poverty before the compassionate people of Oklahoma,” said Robin Jones, OFBCI director. “But there is so much more to do, awareness and education is just the beginning. I am convinced that compassionate work is not just what Oklahomans do but describes who they are.”

Opportunities include tutoring with City Care Whiz Kids, mentoring with NOVO Ministry or participating in Back to School campaigns such as Salvation Army’s undergarments, OKDHS GOALS Blast backpack or Christmas For Kids khaki pants and polo shirts collections,  just to name a few.
