OKLAHOMA CITY -- A professional development event for the state's school-age education professionals will be hosted by the the Oklahoma Afterschool Association on April 10 in Oklahoma City.
“The OKAA's 16th annual conference will help accomplish the OKAA mission ‘to empower and support the school-age professional in pursuit of quality-care for school-age children and youth.' Training gives program providers the tools they need to make quality programs available," said Vikki Dobbins, OKAA president.
The primary educational and informational conference is geared for afterschool/out-of-school child care professionals. Sessions include Discipline and Guidance, Emotional Intelligence in School-Age Programming and Games Galore Indoors and Outdoors.
U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin (R-Okla.) will provide opening remarks.
The six hour training meets requirements for licensed child care programs and includes a training certificate. Participants may register at www.okaaweb.org (Link opens in new window).
Susan Kruk, Oklahoma Child Care Services, said OKDHS will provide vouchers worth $25 toward the registration fee for licensed staff of child care providers.
