OKLAHOMA CAPITOL--- Chad Wilkerson will open a dialog on the economy around us and will discuss the recession and recovery at noon, Jan. 11 at the Oklahoma History Center, 2401 N. Laird Ave., Oklahoma City.

Wilkerson will explore the possibilities of whether regions of the U.S. vary in the timing and circumstances of their recessions. He will also highlight job growth trends in recent business cycles, timing and depth of regional recessions and economic recoveries and expansions across the country.

Wilkerson is a regional economist and representative in the state of Oklahoma for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City at the Oklahoma City branch office. He has been with the Federal Reserve since 1998, and holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago. He also studied economics for a year at Oxford University, England.

The next Practice and Policy Lecture Series will feature Kishore Swaminathan, chief scientist for Accenture. Swaminathan will discuss the future of technology Feb. 18, 2010.

All lectures are sponsored by Oklahoma Department of Human Services Office of Planning, Research and Statistics and University of Oklahoma Center for Public Management. In addition, this lecture is sponsored by OKDHS Finance Division. This yearlong series provides thought-provoking presentations by experts in their fields on Oklahoma’s emerging policy issues, trends and best practices. The lectures are free and open to the public.
