OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Seven Oklahoma Department of Human Services employees were recently recognized for their outstanding efforts to protect client information or for assisting the Information Security Office in its mission. Mark Gower, information security officer, OKDHS Information Security Office said, “These employees have worked with the Information Security Office to create a more secure future for the agency and its clients.”
Planting the seeds for a more secure future, is the mission of the Information Security Office, and one of the many ways they are fulfilling that mission is by encrypting employee laptops. One of the employees being recognized for his efforts is Dale Brown, information systems senior project manager. Brown has been assisting with the encryption program, which is currently in the pilot phase. So far, 169 laptops have been encrypted within the agency with an additional 140 laptops set to be encrypted within the next few weeks. Once the pilot program is successfully tested the agency will quickly rolled out the encryption program statewide to all mobile technology.

Employees recognized as “The OKDHS Magnificent Seven” were Pam Britton, data management analyst IV, Data Services Division; Dale Brown, information systems senior project manager; Sean Gilpin, investigative agent III, Office of Inspector General; Greg Glenn, investigative agent III, Office of Inspector General; Linda Hall, program assistant administrator, Field Operations Division; Bob Henry, information security manager III, Enterprise Technical Services, and Richard Resetaritz, assistant general counsel, Legal Division.

The OKDHS Information Security Office administers the programs that provide information security practices and emergency preparedness and response services for the agency. These programs assist OKDHS’ ability to manage information security risks, and to manage, recover and respond to emergencies, incidents and a major business disruption of its offices or data centers.
