OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Caletta McPherson, Deputy Commissioner for Substance Abuse Services at the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS), will lecture on the link between substance abuse and crime, violence, accidents, child abuse and neglect, domestic assault, lost productivity and increased medical expenses, at noon, Nov. 12 at the Oklahoma History Center in the Oklahoma Capitol Complex.
McPherson’s speech is the fourth in the 2008 Practice and Policy Lecture Series, sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) and the University of Oklahoma Center for Public Management.

McPherson has more than 25 years of experience in the area of social services, primarily in substance abuse and mental health services. Prior to assuming her position as deputy commissioner at ODMHSAS, McPherson served as chief executive officer and president of CARE for Change, Inc., Outpatient Substance Abuse Services, located in Oklahoma City, OK.  McPherson holds a Master’s in Human Relations from University of Oklahoma and is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

The Practice and Policy Lecture Series is free and open to the public. The Practice and Policy Lecture Series was developed to provide thought-provoking presentations on Oklahoma’s emerging policy issues, trends, and best practices.
