OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- The Administration for Children and Families notified the state last week that its Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) is in full compliance with federal law. This certification means that Oklahoma no longer has to report semi-annually. OKDHS is one of only six states who have become fully compliant.
OKDHS designed, developed and implemented the SACWIS known as KIDS in 1994-1995. Monthly or bi-monthly IT application releases have kept the application current as a case management system used by agency social workers, managers, administrators and others, such as tribal social workers, judges, and contractors. The KIDS system is also used for federal reporting to the National Child Abuse & Neglect Data System and the Adoption & Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System - reporting that is required by federal law.
