OKLAHOMA CAPITOL – Oklahoma Human Services Cabinet Secretary Howard H. Hendrick will present “Changing the Stories Our Children Tell 100 Years from Now” Thursday, Nov. 29. The hour-long presentation launches the Practice and Policy Lecture Series.
Sponsored by the OKDHS Office of Planning, Research, and Statistics and the University of Oklahoma Center for Public Management, Hendrick will present from noon until 1 p.m. in the Concourse Theater, Sequoyah Building basement, 2400 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City. Prior to the presentation, light refreshments will be served at 11:30 a.m. in room C-47, directly across from the Concourse Theater.

The lecture series will offer thought-provoking presentations on Oklahoma’s emerging policy issues, trends and best practices. On Dec. 11, Kathy Edin, professor of public policy and management at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, will present research on the growing prevalence of fragile families. On Jan. 18, Oklahoma Commissioner of Health Mike Crutcher, M.D., will speak on the Strong and Healthy Oklahoma Initiative. On March 7, Robert Cox, assistant professor in the School of International and Area Studies at the University of Oklahoma, will present the European Welfare Systems. On May 15, Marie Bernard, professor and chair of the Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatric Medicine and the director of the Oklahoma Geriatric Education Center, will present on Aging Oklahoma and State Policy.

The Practice and Policy Lecture is free and open to the public. Free parking is available at the Oklahoma History Center with the OKDHS shuttle providing transportation to the Sequoyah Building.
