OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- Susan Gilliland, a nine-year Oklahoma Department of Human Services employee, has been named Delaware County director.
“I am really honored to be chosen for this position,” said Gilliland. “I am committed to the mission of OKDHS on a personal, as well as a professional level. “I have been blessed in my personal life and believe strongly in giving back.”
Gilliland, who holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Northeastern State University, began as a child welfare specialist with Muskogee County. Since 2002, Gilliland has served in the Area V office as the Oklahoma Children’s Services contract liaison. Before transferring to OKDHS, Gilliland worked for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
“We are thrilled to have Susan join our Area V leadership team,” said Area V Director Judy Wyatt. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.”
Gilliland and her husband, Marvin, who is retired, have four sons and one daughter, as well as 10 grandchildren.
