OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- The fifth in series of public hearings to discuss services funded through the federal Older Americans Act will be held at 10:30 a.m., May 25, at the Woodward Senior Center, 1420 Downs, Woodward. The public hearings allow older Oklahomans and other interested citizens to have input into the state’s plan for developing and delivering services.
Information and comments submitted during these hearings will be used to develop the state’s plan of services for older Oklahomans for the next four years, said Carey Garland, Oklahoma Department of Human Services interim director of Aging Services.
“Our federal funding partner requires that we go to the people who will be receiving services to include them in the process of developing our goals and plans for service delivery,” Garland said. “We believe this grassroots approach is essential to ensuring that Oklahoma’s plan meets the needs of older Oklahomans and their families.”
Written comments will also be accepted for one week following the public hearings.
The Woodward Senior Center is fully accessible. Interpreters are available upon request. Call OEDA at (580) 254-2389 or 1-800-658-2844.
The Oklahoma Department of Human Services Aging Services Division and the Oklahoma Economic Development Authority (OEDA) Area Agency on Aging jointly sponsor the public hearing.
