OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- The Oklahoma Department of Human Services has named Mark Lewis director of the Division of Child Care.
Lewis will manage the division’s $183-million budget and 170 administrative and field office staff. The Division of Child Care licenses more than 6,000 Oklahoma child care facilities, residential care facilities and child placing agencies, as well as establishes quality initiatives for child care.
Lewis began with OKDHS in March 1994 in Oklahoma County 55B. He later served as comptroller for the Finance Division. He transferred to the Division of Child Care in 2000 and was promoted to programs administrator responsible for finance and contracting operations, technology activities, budgeting activities and serving as deputy director.
“Oklahoma's child care program is nationally known and respected for our strong licensing law and monitoring activities and for our commitment and progress in establishing a program of high quality,” said Chief Coordinating Officer Raymond Haddock. “Under Mark’s leadership we will continue to improve on these efforts.”
Lewis graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Oklahoma.
