OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- Cheryl Walters, a 16-year Oklahoma Department of Human Services veteran, has been named Family Support Program Field Liaison in Area V serving Craig, Nowata, Delaware, Ottawa, Mayes and Rogers counties.
“Area V is proud to have Cheryl in this position,” said Area V Director Judy Ann Wyatt. “We welcome her talents and skills and wish her much success.”

Walters began her career with Cherokee County OKDHS in 1989 as a social work assistant in medical assistance. In 1995, Walters was promoted to social services supervisor. Walters has supervised all program areas providing comprehensive services to the clients of Cherokee County, as well as the specialized multi-county IV-E specialist and SoonerCare outreach workers.

“OKDHS has been an excellent career choice for me,” said Walters. “I have experienced opportunities for advancement with the agency and a personal satisfaction of providing quality services to families in our communities. I am pleased to be a part of the Area V team in providing support and assistance to our counties as they continue to assist individuals and families in reaching their full potential.”

Walters holds a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah.

Walters and Gary, her husband of 33 years, have three children, Jeffrey, Kevin and Lindsey, and one grandson, Tristan.
