EL RENO -- David Griesel, manager of the Oklahoma Environmental Management Authority in El Reno, was presented with a commendation from Gov. Brad Henry on Nov. 8 at the 20th Annual Governor’s Disability Employment Awards ceremony held at the Governor’s Mansion in Oklahoma City.
Griesel was recognized in the business category for hiring persons with disabilities and helping them to succeed. The awards program stated this:

“For the past eight years, the Oklahoma Environmental Management Authority in El Reno has employed more than 20 people through Apex, Inc. David Griesel, the general manager, has definitely been the support in this employment program. He recognizes the skills each individual brings to the company and demands that all employees be treated fairly and with respect. David is responsible for OEMA purchasing a 15-passenger van to transport supported employees to and from work each day. He made sure they had all had official company uniforms and that they receive Christmas bonuses and raises each year like everyone else. The employees respect David for his dedication to their lives and often refer to him as the best boss ever.”

The Governor’s Disability Employment Awards are held each year to honor outstanding persons with disabilities who are working successfully in their communities. The awards also recognize businesses that hire persons with disabilities and help them to succeed.

The awards are co-sponsored by state organizations that support people with disabilities in finding and maintaining employment. They are the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Developmental Disabilities Services Division; the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, the Oklahoma Association of Persons in Supported Employment and the Office of Handicapped Concerns.
