Broyles was recognized in the employee category for his outstanding achievements in employment. The awards program stated this about Broyles:
“Clifford Broyles has always loved being a part of his community by having paid employment. He has worked through the supported employment program for the past 11 years in a variety of jobs and continues to advance into better positions. Earning a paycheck and putting money into his checking and savings accounts are sources of great pride for Clifford. He works hard for his money as a groundskeeper at a local apartment complex in Muskogee. He has been at this job for four years and enjoys his paid vacations, annual bonuses and raises. Clifford is also a member of his local fitness club and enjoys working out, playing basketball and visiting with his friends.”
The Governor’s Disability Employment Awards are held each year to honor outstanding persons with disabilities who are working successfully in their communities. The awards also recognize businesses that hire persons with disabilities and help them to succeed.
The awards are co-sponsored by state organizations that support people with disabilities in finding and maintaining employment. They are the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Developmental Disabilities Services Division; the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, the Oklahoma Association of Persons in Supported Employment and the Office of Handicapped Concerns.
