OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- Joyce Williams, a 23-year Oklahoma Department of Human Services veteran, has assumed the duties of family support supervisor for Delaware County.
“Joyce brings an outstanding level of expertise in Family Support to the position,” said Area V Director Judy Ann Wyatt. “Her knowledge of the programs and services make her valuable not only to staff, but also the residents of Delaware County.”
Prior to starting her new role in OKDHS, Williams served as the Accuracy Case Examiner (ACE) Reader for the Food Stamp Program in Delaware County. In that capacity, she verified the accuracy of food stamp case files.
Williams began her career with OKDHS in 1982 in Family Support Services working with the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program. In 1989, she transferred to Comanche County, where she worked in Family Support. Williams has worked in all areas of family support including: AFDC; Food Stamps; Aged, Blind and Disabled; Medical Assistance; Daycare Assistance; and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Prior to her employment at OKDHS, she and her family raised breeder chickens for Peterson’s. She also worked for the Idaho Department of Law Enforcement.
"As the ACE Reader, I had a lot of interaction with the case workers,” Williams said. “It helped establish a rapport with them and has proven to be a huge asset."
Williams graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.
Williams and her husband, Bart, are long-time residents of Delaware County. She has two children and two stepchildren.
