OKLAHOMA CAPITOL -- The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, will join the Oklahoma Department of Human Services for a special signing of a Statement of Support for OKDHS employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.
The signing ceremony will be held at 2 p.m., Oct. 5 at the Sequoyah Building, located at 2400 N. Lincoln Blvd. in the State Capitol Complex, Oklahoma City.

During the ceremony, OKDHS Director Howard H. Hendrick will be joined by the Adjutant General of Oklahoma, Gen. Harry Wyatt III, ESGR State Chair Maj. Gen. James Sholar, commander of the U.S. Army Reserve 90th Regiment. Readiness Command, Retired Brig. Gen. John Hubbard and Retired Col. Gary Jackson, executive director of the Oklahoma ESGR Committee.

"As the largest state agency, we feel it’s important to set a standard in supporting our fellow employees who are not only serving our country proudly in Operation Enduring Freedom and the war on terror, but also trying to balance their duty to their country, their state and their families,” said David Shafer, OKDHS chief administrative officer and member of the Oklahoma ESGR Committee. “Knowing their employer understands and supports them means a lot to these folks and we encourage other agencies to work with the ESGR and show their support any way they can.”

ESGR is a Department of Defense agency that was established in 1972 to promote understanding and support among employers and employees who serve as members of the National Guard and Reserve.
