OKLAHOMA CAPITOL --- Kevan Goff-Parker, an award-winning public relations pro, editor and journalist, has been named public information specialist serving the Office of Communications for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS).

Goff-Parker’s duties will include serving as editor of Inside OKDHS, the agency’s monthly employee newsletter and the Inside OKDHS Quarterly Magazine. She will also handle an array of public relations and communications projects and campaigns.

Goff-Parker has worked as a journalist, editor and corporate communications professional for such diverse industries as high-tech manufacturing, public utilities and education, as well as public relations, marketing and print media.

Prior to her most recent work as features editor for The St. Kitts-Nevis Observer in the West Indies, Goff-Parker served as manager of Corporate Communications for Seagate Technology in Oklahoma City and Reynosa, Mexico. Previous employers include OGE Energy Corp., Hays & Associates, Oklahoma City Public Schools and The Daily Oklahoman.

Goff-Parker has earned 43 top awards in regional and national competitions through various organizations, including the Oklahoma City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA OKC), the Oklahoma Chapter for the Society of Professional Journalists and the Oklahoma City Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators, as well as the Oklahoma City Chapter for the Association of Women in Communications.

They include awards in strategic public relations planning and implementation, promotional materials and publications, as well as special event planning, reporting and community and media relations.

Goff-Parker served as this year’s publicity chair for the SPJ OK Region 8 Conference, served as president of PRSA OKC in 2000-01 and has served as an officer and committee member for various civic-related boards, non-profit and professional organizations.
